Interfaith
At Joyful Path, we believe that wisdom grows in dialogue, not isolation. Our interfaith work is rooted in the understanding that compassion, contemplation, and community transcend any single religious boundary. In a time when many seek authenticity, belonging, and purpose outside traditional institutions, we offer a shared space where people of all faiths—and of none—can explore the sacred dimensions of life together.
A Bridge Across Faiths
Joyful Path is a meeting place for the world’s spiritual traditions. Through shared meditation, prayer, storytelling, and ritual, we cultivate connection and mutual understanding. Our approach honors the distinctiveness of each path while discovering the universal heart that connects them all. Together, we cultivate an inclusive spirituality that honors wisdom over ideology, depth over division, and the development of altruistic compassion as our highest priority..
Sacred Refuge Cohort
In 2025, Joyful Path received a $10,000 grant from the Academy of Parish Clergy to sponsor and facilitate the Sacred Refuge Cohort, a two-year interfaith renewal program that brings together clergy, chaplains, and spiritual caregivers from diverse traditions. Designed and administered by Pema Antoniotti and Amber Mattingly, the program integrates contemplative practice, theological reflection, creative ritual, mindful art, and embodied leadership.
Over two years, participants explore themes such as Redefining Wellness and Renewal, Wisdom of Black Mystics, Purification Practices, Overcoming Afflictive Anger, and Emerging as a Transformative Leader. Each member leads and contributes, shaping the program through their own experience and faith background. The design emphasizes peer leadership and mutual support—participants co-create retreats, worship, and study sessions that nurture trust and transformation.
As a member describes it, “The heart of our collective intention is to create community, contemplative depth, and spiritual courage.”
Selah Center for Refuge and Renewal
Joyful Path serves as the fiscal sponsor for the Selah Center for Refuge and Renewal, a contemplative Christian initiative dedicated to helping individuals and faith leaders rest, reflect, and re-center. Selah Center offers retreats, small-group gatherings, and online learning designed to cultivate spiritual depth and compassionate leadership.
Through this partnership, Joyful Path extends its mission by supporting Selah’s administration and development, allowing the center to focus on its spiritual and educational work. One of our members also serves as an interfaith board member for Selah, further strengthening the connection between our communities. Together, we are building a network of refuge and renewal—places where people can reconnect with purpose, rediscover sacred rhythms of rest, and bridge differences through compassionate awareness.
Wisdom in Dialogue
Our facilitators come from a rich tapestry of faith and contemplative traditions—including Theravāda and Mahāyāna Buddhism, Christianity, Judaism, and secular mindfulness. In dialogue, these traditions illuminate and deepen one another: Buddhist mindfulness enriches Christian contemplation, Christian mysticism fosters compassionate action, and Indigenous wisdom reconnects us to the living earth. Our co-founder, Pema Antoniotti, explored interfaith synergy in A Leap of Interfaith, co-authored with Reverend Doctor Amber Mattingly.
This vibrant exchange exemplifies the collaborative, compassionate leadership that the world most urgently needs today.
Shared Leadership and Integrity
Our co-founders have served on the Board of the Academy of Parish Clergy and the Association of Spiritual Caregivers, bringing experience in pastoral leadership, interfaith education, and community formation. Their work embodies Joyful Path’s mission—to nurture spiritually grounded, ethically aware, and compassionately engaged communities.
I Take the Vow
Joyful Path also upholds the spirit of I Take the Vow, a global movement initiated by Deepak Chopra that calls for nonviolence in thought, word, and action. Taking this vow reminds us that peace begins within—and through it, we awaken awareness, heal division, and embody compassion in daily life.
