Conscious Communication Practice group

2nd & 4th Tuesdays 7-8:30pm

Based on Marshall Rosenberg’s technique called Nonviolent Communication, and on Words That Work in Business by Ike Lasater, this process is simple and doable, can be used with anyone, and is complete and adaptable. Whether you are interested in more productive feedback sessions with a boss or employee, connecting with a loved one or client, working with anger or overwhelm or expressing and receiving gratitude or forgiveness, these skills can be adapted to any situation in which talking is part of the solution. Led by Mary Kay Reineman. A donation is requested to cover our facilitator's basic expenses.

Metta Meditation (Loving-Kindness) groups

Loving-Practicing Metta meditation improves a person’s mind state and has lasting and profound emotional, physical, and spiritual benefits. Through scientific research, Metta meditation, or loving-kindness, has been shown to decrease migraines, chronic pain, and symptoms of depression and PTSD. It increases compassion and feelings of empathy, as well as decreases criticism of self and others. It can even positively affect the aging process and makes you more resilient to stress. Each session includes a guided loving-kindness meditation, short discussion on a mindful element of loving-kindness, a handout and time to ask questions.

Practical Buddhist Wisdom

Select Sundays 10-11:30am

We all seek happiness and wish to avoid suffering. Buddhism offers myriad tools and strategies to support you in making the positive changes you desire. Whether you are simply interested in gaining more wisdom in your own life path or are an experienced Buddhist meditator, learn how Buddhist wisdom and meditation techniques can improve your life.

Yoga for AnyBody

Fridays 5:30-6:30pm

Always wanted to try Yoga, but thought you weren't flexible enough? Or perhaps you have an injury. This Yoga class is for you. Poses are adapted to the students who come. Students should be able to get up and down from the floor once, or they should contact the instructor before arriving. Taught by Sarah Blake.

Transformative Meditations

Thursdays at 7 PM

These special meditations are deeply steeped in the Tibetan Vajrayana tradition and often appeal to those who resonate with mystical or symbolic meditation practices. After generating compassion, one visualizes being immersed in a special quality or state of mind such as healing, wisdom, or purity. The meditations also include quiet contemplation of symbols and imagery such as meditation on the Buddha. Many people who come to this for the first time experience a wave of peacefulness and a fresh, heart-centered aliveness. Green Light Wisdom meditation is led on 1st and 3rd Thursdays (see below). Medicine Buddha Healing is led on 2nd and 4th Thursdays.

Interfaith Prayers for World Peace

Part of the Joyful Path vision of contributing to social change is to do regular prayers. Our thoughts have power, especially when we gather as a group for a dedicated purpose. Please join us for this wonderful opportunity to hold and express a positive vision for the world, and deepen your understanding of peace through the prayers of different world faiths
